Currency Conversion

When purchasing items internationally, you must pay sellers in the currency that they specify, although if they accept PayPal payments, you may be able to send a payment in your own currency. You can check this on the item description or email the seller by clicking on the 'Ask seller a question' link.

N.B. Rates are not verified as accurate, and actual rates may vary.

Clothing Size Conversion

Buying clothing or shoes from overseas can often be tricky as sizes can vary. The size comparison guide will help you find out which international size is closest or most comparable to the Australian size you normally wear.

This is only a guide and we recommend that you get more information from the seller, including measurements, before bidding or buying.

Tips & Tricks

  • Review the seller's feedback prior to bidding on or buying an item.
  • Ensure that the seller is willing to post to your location. If this information is not on the View Item page, click 'Ask seller a question' and email them to find out.
  • Take note of the item location and postage costs. Use a Postage Rate Calculator to estimate costs. You will need the item's dimensions and weight. If the seller has not provided these in the item description, email the seller for the information by clicking on 'Ask seller a question'.
  • Consider customs when you are arranging delivery with your seller and also find out if any duties or taxes apply.
  • Keep in mind that the transit time for international postage may vary depending on the seller's country of origin and your location.

  • Ask a seller to mark your goods as a gift on the customs form.
  • Wait until the last minute to contact the seller with a question. Times zones often result in delayed response times.
  • Place a bid or buy from a seller that doesn't have a good feedback rating, or seems suspicious.
  • Never use Western Union for eBay payments. Use PayPal, or use an international money order (available at most banks).

The safest way to pay international sellers quickly is by using PayPal or an international money order (available at most banks). Never use Western Union for eBay payment methods.
